JLH DRAFTING FOR THEBengals
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Bengals
Overall

FutureB-
Best value of the weekend goes to the Bengals for Starks: B. You build a draft on nights like this. Malaki Starks had no business being available in slot 49, and the Bengals did the only sane thing and turned in the card. Good, not great, and the B says as much.
The cornerback hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Job largely done: interior defensive lineman settled and 3 of 8 of the wish list covered.
Value over need was the throughline, for better and worse.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but cornerback.
Pick Analysis
Pick17
Rnd1
Matthew Golden
In slot 17 they get a weapon on the perimeter. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick49
Rnd2
Malaki Starks
They barely believed it either: Malaki Starks still on the board at the 49th pick. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick81
Rnd3
Donovan Jackson
A tidy bit of business in the 81st overall pick, where Donovan Jackson graded well above the range. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick119
Rnd4
Joshua Farmer
Joshua Farmer at pick 119 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick153
Rnd5
Malachi Moore
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Malachi Moore at pick No. 153. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
Pick193
Rnd6
CJ West
CJ West at Round 6, Pick 17 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
