Draft Grade — Bears
Overall

FutureB-
Braswell should have been long gone. The Bears pounced, and earned a B+. The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Bears watched Chris Braswell slide 53 picks past his grade and did not hesitate. It does the job without flash, and the B+ reflects it.
The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. With interior defensive lineman, running back and other spots unsolved, spending premium capital on tight end is the choice that costs them. For all the activity, interior defensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain.
The imported veterans give this class a floor the draft picks could not on their own.
Good work on the whole, with interior defensive lineman the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick9
Rnd1
Marvin Harrison Jr.
In pick 9 they get a No. 1 receiver at a price that makes it sweeter. A real need, handled.
Pick30
Rnd1
Brock Bowers
In pick No. 30 they get a matchup weapon at tight end, outstanding value to boot. Need was not the driver here.
Pick75
Rnd3
Ja'Tavion Sanders
A want over a need in Round 3, Pick 11: Ja'Tavion Sanders adds a tight end while interior defensive lineman, running back and other spots keeps waiting.
Pick110
Rnd4
Chris Braswell
Chris Braswell at the Round 4 slot is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick122
Rnd4
Ainias Smith
Ainias Smith in slot 122 lands just on the right side of the ledger. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick146
Rnd5
Javion Cohen
No edge and no loss on Javion Cohen in No. 146; it is a wash and a sensible one. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
