Draft Grade — Jets
Overall
B

NeedB+
TradesB-
FutureB-
The Jets bet the future on Sanders. The board says B. They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Shedeur Sanders is the Jets' quarterback, full stop. Good, not great, and the B says as much.
Williams falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. The cornerback hole is the one line item this class does not answer. The Fatheree II pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over.
Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick Analysis
Pick11
Rnd1
Shedeur Sanders
They took Shedeur Sanders at par in the 11th overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick75
Rnd3
Ladd McConkey
Ladd McConkey at the Round 3 slot is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick111
Rnd4
Reuben Fatheree II
They went early on Reuben Fatheree II in No. 111, and the value did not follow. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick148
Rnd5
James Williams
James Williams in Round 5, Pick 12 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick189
Rnd6
Steve Linton
They let Steve Linton come to them and pounced at the 189th pick. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick232
Rnd7
Jack Howell
The board had cheaper options than Jack Howell at slot 232, and it noticed. Need-wise, a curious use of the pick.
Pick255
Rnd7
Zion Nelson
A straight-up fair deal on Zion Nelson at pick No. 255, value and slot in agreement. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick256
Rnd7
Jase McClellan
They read the board right and Jase McClellan was the payoff at pick 256. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
