There is conviction, and then there is this. The Jets took Amari Gainer a full 46 picks ahead of where the board had him, an overdraft steep enough that it colors the whole weekend.

The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. They will regret leaving interior defensive lineman for another day if the season turns on it.

The Smith pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with interior defensive lineman and wide receiver still on the board. Fautanu falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch.

Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
