There is conviction, and then there is this. The Jets took Gunner Stockton a full 58 picks ahead of where the board had him, an overdraft steep enough that it colors the whole weekend. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B-.

A whole weekend of picks and interior defensive lineman is somehow still a want. With interior defensive lineman and running back unsolved, spending premium capital on linebacker is the choice that costs them. They banked enough surplus on Sadiq to cover a lot of smaller sins.

Job largely done: quarterback settled and 6 of 8 of the wish list covered.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
