FutureA+
The Jets got the worse of every deal, and it shows in the C+. The tape said wait; the Jets did not. Da'Shawn Womack went at pick No. 256, a good 52 picks before the board was ready. Some smart calls, some head-scratchers, and a C+ in the wash.
The dealing is the wound this class cannot quite close. They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. They banked enough surplus on Delane to cover a lot of smaller sins.
Call it incomplete, and check back in a couple of seasons.
Pick Analysis
Pick11
Rnd1
Arvell Reese
In the 11th pick they get a coverage-and-run second-level piece at fair value.
Pick30
Rnd1
Mansoor Delane
In slot 30 they get a lockdown presence outside, and a steal at that. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick109
Rnd4
C.J. Fite
A straight-up fair deal on C.J. Fite at No. 109, value and slot in agreement. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick128
Rnd4
Jalon Kilgore
They read the board right and Jalon Kilgore was the payoff at pick 128. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick170
Rnd5
Aaron Graves
Aaron Graves at pick No. 170 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It fills a real need, too.
Pick177
Rnd5
Kyle Louis
They did well to land Kyle Louis in the 177th overall pick, just ahead of his grade. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
Pick192
Rnd6
Earnest Greene III
Fair-plus on Earnest Greene III, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick200
Rnd6
Le'Veon Moss
A reasonable price with a little left over, Le'Veon Moss in pick 200. The roster fit checks out.
Pick202
Rnd6
Evan Stewart
Good price on Evan Stewart in pick No. 202, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick210
Rnd6
Lee Hunter
A tidy little value on Lee Hunter in No. 210, a step better than break-even. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick216
Rnd7
Cam Calhoun
Cam Calhoun at the Round 7 slot nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick236
Rnd7
Barion Brown
Barion Brown in the 236th overall pick is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick245
Rnd7
Daevin Hobbs
Daevin Hobbs in the 245th pick is fair value, right on his grade. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick254
Rnd7
Tristan Leigh
Tristan Leigh in Round 7, Pick 39 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick256
Rnd7
Da'Shawn Womack
Value said wait; Da'Shawn Womack in the Round 7 slot says they were not listening. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
