The Jets spent real capital to be 127 picks early on Patrick Payton, and the board is going to hold them to it.

That is a safety worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck.

The imported veterans give this class a floor the draft picks could not on their own. The hoard sets up next April more than it helps this September.

Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
