Draft Grade — Jets
Overall
A-
ValueB+

FutureA+
The Jets won the night they stopped Pegues from sliding. Grade: A-. The Jets did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and JJ Pegues fell into slot 209.
Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. That cornerback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. The veteran additions, Sheldon Rankins chief among them, give the class a floor the rookies alone would not.
Bottom line, with Jalon Walker leading the way, this is a class that should pay off fast and rarely be regretted.
Pick Analysis
Pick30
Rnd1
Jalon Walker
In slot 30 they get a coverage-and-run second-level piece, and a steal at that.
Pick42
Rnd2
Jaxson Dart
Good price on Jaxson Dart in the 42nd pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick56
Rnd2
Xavier Watts
Xavier Watts is a better player than the Round 2 slot suggests; smart patience, rewarded. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick85
Rnd3
Jayden Higgins
Jayden Higgins in pick 85 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick97
Rnd3
Donovan Jackson
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Donovan Jackson at pick No. 97. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick109
Rnd4
Malachi Moore
They let Malachi Moore come to them and pounced at Round 4, Pick 8. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick118
Rnd4
Jordan Phillips
A reasonable price with a little left over, Jordan Phillips in the 118th overall pick. The roster fit checks out.
Pick121
Rnd4
Ajani Cornelius
A tidy little value on Ajani Cornelius in No. 121, a step better than break-even. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick146
Rnd5
Joshua Farmer
Steal is underselling it; Joshua Farmer at the 146th overall pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick157
Rnd5
Dillon Gabriel
Dillon Gabriel in pick 157 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick161
Rnd5
Nick Nash
A tidy bit of business in No. 161, where Nick Nash graded well above the range. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick188
Rnd6
Oronde Gadsden II
Oronde Gadsden II at the 188th pick is money in the bank, a tight end taken below his worth. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick209
Rnd6
JJ Pegues
JJ Pegues in the Round 6 slot is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
