The board owed the Jets one, and it paid up: Lathan Ransom, the No. 103 name on the board, sitting there at No. 145 like a gift left on the doorstep. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.

The cost of the Thornton Jr. reach is exactly the players who went right after him. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up. The trades cost them a sliver of value they did not need to spend.
