Draft Grade — Jets

FutureB-
Larceny in Round 2, Pick 10 lands the Jets a B-, Golden and all. The Jets did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Matthew Golden fell into slot 42. No fireworks, but a solid B-.
They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Thornton Jr. has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick7
Rnd1
Armand Membou
In No. 7 they get a blindside protector. A real need, handled.
Pick42
Rnd2
Matthew Golden
A wide receiver of that caliber at pick 42 is the definition of value, full stop. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick73
Rnd3
Elijah Arroyo
Elijah Arroyo in the 73rd pick is fair value, right on his grade. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick110
Rnd4
Ty Hamilton
They reached into another round for Ty Hamilton, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick145
Rnd5
Jonas Sanker
Jonas Sanker is a better player than the 145th overall pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick162
Rnd5
Dont'e Thornton Jr.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Dont'e Thornton Jr. well ahead of where he belonged. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick186
Rnd6
Jason Marshall Jr.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Jason Marshall Jr. in the Round 6 slot, miles early. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
