GreenReaper DRAFTING FOR THEJets
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Jets
Overall
B-
ValueB-
NeedB
TradesB-
FutureB-
More right than wrong for the Jets, and a B- to prove it. You can draft well and still miss the point. The Jets did plenty of tidy work and somehow never got around to quarterback, which was the need that mattered most. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.
The Thornton Jr. pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. Getting Sanker where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.
They left with safety solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick Analysis
Pick7
Rnd1
Armand Membou
A straight-up fair deal on Armand Membou at the 7th overall pick, value and slot in agreement. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick42
Rnd2
Tyleik Williams
Good price on Tyleik Williams in the 42nd pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick73
Rnd3
Mason Taylor
Mason Taylor in Round 3, Pick 9 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick110
Rnd4
Tai Felton
They let Tai Felton come to them and pounced at No. 110. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick145
Rnd5
Jonas Sanker
Jonas Sanker at the Round 5 slot is money in the bank, a safety taken below his worth. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick162
Rnd5
Dont'e Thornton Jr.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Dont'e Thornton Jr. well ahead of where he belonged. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick186
Rnd6
Connor Colby
They paid sticker price for Connor Colby in pick 186, and that is fine. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick207
Rnd6
Caleb Ransaw
They took Caleb Ransaw at par in slot 207, which is nothing to complain about. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
