Draft Grade — Jets
Overall B+
ValueB NeedB TradesB+ FutureA
Maiava is the Jets' new face under center. Grade: B+.

The search is over. The Jets handed the keys to Jayden Maiava, and the whole operation now runs on his development. It nets out to a B+, which feels about right.

Echoles at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. That running back hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.

They are betting Matthews proves the room right and everyone else wrong. The Travon Walker deal gives the class an established piece to lean on.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Pick Analysis
Pick6 Rnd1 Dylan Stewart
In the 6th overall pick they get a disruptor off the edge at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick10 Rnd1 Leonard Moore
In the Round 1 slot they get a press-man option on the boundary, though they paid up to get him. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick25 Rnd1 Jayden Maiava
Good price on Jayden Maiava in pick 25, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick46 Rnd2 Will Echoles
They will replay Will Echoles at slot 46 for years; that is how good the value is. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick75 Rnd3 Bray Hubbard
Bray Hubbard at pick No. 75 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the safety. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick112 Rnd4 Mike Matthews
A reach on Mike Matthews in Round 4, Pick 10; the board had better options right there. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick124 Rnd4 Samson Okunlola
Samson Okunlola in No. 124 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It fills a real need, too.
Pick146 Rnd5 Desmeal Leigh
Desmeal Leigh in the 146th pick is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick191 Rnd6 Jermaine Mathews Jr.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Jermaine Mathews Jr. in No. 191. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick211 Rnd6 Braelin Moore
Braelin Moore at the 211th overall pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick248 Rnd7 Elinneus Davis
Elinneus Davis in slot 248 is fair value, right on his grade. A need, and now a little less of one.
