Draft Grade — Jets

FutureA+
The Jets left with their quarterback, and a A- to match. You build a draft on nights like this. Jared Wilson had no business being available in pick No. 187, and the Jets did the only sane thing and turned in the card.
The Griffith pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. They have staked the next five years on Jaxson Dart, which is the only story that really matters here. The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend.
They will answer for taking linebacker early while edge rusher and running back went begging. They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
Bottom line, they did the job about as well as it can be done.
Pick Analysis
Pick25
Rnd1
Jaxson Dart
In slot 25 they get the arm they will build around, a steep price for the projection. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick50
Rnd2
Jihaad Campbell
A slide stopped in the 50th pick, with Jihaad Campbell worth more than the price. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick58
Rnd2
Jack Bech
A reach on Jack Bech in pick 58; the board had better options right there. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick92
Rnd3
Harold Fannin Jr.
Harold Fannin Jr. in pick No. 92 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick109
Rnd4
Danny Stutsman
Of all the spots to shop, they chose linebacker. Danny Stutsman in the 109th pick leaves edge rusher and running back for later.
Pick146
Rnd5
Ty Robinson
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Ty Robinson well ahead of where he belonged. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick157
Rnd5
Cobee Bryant
This one needs a full-page explanation: Cobee Bryant in the Round 5 slot, miles early. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick187
Rnd6
Jared Wilson
You do not let an offensive lineman like Jared Wilson reach slot 187 and blink. They did not. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick188
Rnd6
Robert Spears-Jennings
Taking Robert Spears-Jennings in No. 188 is close to grand larceny; a safety that good had no business lasting this long. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick209
Rnd6
Thor Griffith
They reached a country mile for Thor Griffith at Round 6, Pick 34, and the board is aghast. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
