FutureB
The steal of the weekend belongs to the Jets and Moore: B. Thirty-one other rooms let Rod Moore slide, and the Jets were the ones holding the card at the Round 6 slot. Highway robbery. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.
For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain. A modest surplus at the table, banked quietly. On the needs board they went 5 of 8, with quarterback the one that mattered most.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick Analysis
Pick7
Rnd1
Will Johnson
In the 7th overall pick they get a ballhawk on the outside. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick42
Rnd2
Matthew Golden
Matthew Golden at pick No. 42 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It fills a real need, too.
Pick108
Rnd4
Kyle McCord
By-the-book stuff, Kyle McCord at pick 108 squarely in line with his ranking. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick144
Rnd5
Oronde Gadsden II
Value with a capital V on Oronde Gadsden II in Round 5, Pick 7, a genuine coup. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick155
Rnd5
Vernon Broughton
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Vernon Broughton at No. 155. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick184
Rnd6
Cody Simon
A top-tier linebacker at a bargain, Cody Simon in the 184th pick, plain and simple. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick206
Rnd6
Rod Moore
Rod Moore at slot 206 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
