Draft Grade — Seahawks
Overall B+
ValueA NeedB TradesB+ FutureB-
Best value of the weekend goes to the Seahawks for Higgins: B+.

Call it larceny. Jay Higgins sat on the board until Round 5, Pick 28, and the Seahawks did not need to be asked twice. The bottom line is a respectable B+.

They are betting Wells Jr. proves the room right and everyone else wrong. That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.

Pick Analysis
Pick21 Rnd1 Nick Emmanwori
In the 21st pick they get a centerfielder for the defense, outstanding value to boot. Need was not the driver here.
Pick54 Rnd2 James Pearce Jr.
Circle this one: James Pearce Jr. at Round 2, Pick 22 is a fall that decides a draft. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick85 Rnd3 Tyler Booker
Tyler Booker in pick No. 85 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick124 Rnd4 Colston Loveland
A tight end of that caliber at the 124th overall pick is the definition of value, full stop. It fills a real need, too.
Pick136 Rnd4 Jake Majors
Jake Majors at No. 136 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick166 Rnd5 Jay Higgins
They robbed the room for Jay Higgins here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick173 Rnd5 TreVeyon Henderson
The board fumbled TreVeyon Henderson all the way to the Round 5 slot, and they scooped it up. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick185 Rnd6 Antwane Wells Jr.
Antwane Wells Jr. at pick 185 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick210 Rnd6 Brant Kuithe
A slide stopped in pick 210, with Brant Kuithe worth more than the price. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick237 Rnd7 Jared Wilson
You do not let an offensive lineman like Jared Wilson reach the 237th overall pick and blink. They did not. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
