Draft Grade — Jets
Overall B
ValueC NeedB+ TradesA+ FutureB
The Jets turned the phones into found money: B.

The Xavier Truss selection is the head-turner. The Jets reached 141 spots for him, and it will define how this weekend is remembered. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B.

Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. Lawson falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch.

A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want. The Jermaine Burton deal gives the class an established piece to lean on.

Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.

Pick Analysis
Pick10 Rnd1 Will Johnson
In the Round 1 slot they get a sticky cover corner at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick37 Rnd2 Colston Loveland
They jumped the gun on Colston Loveland, taking him earlier than his grade liked. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick41 Rnd2 Kamari Ramsey
Fair-plus on Kamari Ramsey, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick96 Rnd3 Tory Horton
The board had cheaper options than Tory Horton at the 96th pick, and it noticed. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick107 Rnd4 Deontae Lawson
Steal is underselling it; Deontae Lawson at slot 107 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick143 Rnd5 Xavier Truss
A big swing on Xavier Truss at the 143rd overall pick, well ahead of any board in the building. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick162 Rnd5 Kyle McCord
Kyle McCord at pick 162 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick183 Rnd6 Donovan Edwards
Donovan Edwards at No. 183 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick207 Rnd6 Tonka Hemingway
A real head-scratcher, Tonka Hemingway in pick No. 207 is miles ahead of his ranking. It fills a real need, too.
Pick222 Rnd7 Clay Webb
Clay Webb in the 222nd pick is fair value, right on his grade. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
