Draft Grade — Jets
Overall B
ValueF NeedB+ TradesA- FutureA+
The Jets found their guy under center in McCord: B.

There is conviction, and then there is this. The Jets took Hudson Card a full 129 picks ahead of where the board had him, an overdraft steep enough that it colors the whole weekend.

Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Henderson. Kyle McCord gives the offense a face and a plan, and the grade leans heavily on whether he hits.

They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Jeff Okudah gives the group a proven body among the projects.

Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.

Pick Analysis
Pick19 Rnd1 Kyle McCord
In No. 19 they get the face of the franchise, a steep price for the projection. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick42 Rnd2 Dylan Fairchild
Dylan Fairchild in slot 42 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick96 Rnd3 Rylie Mills
They left a pile of value on the table to take Rylie Mills this early at the 96th overall pick. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick109 Rnd4 Deontae Lawson
Deontae Lawson in pick No. 109 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick122 Rnd4 Gunnar Helm
Taking Gunnar Helm in the 122nd pick is close to grand larceny; a tight end that good had no business lasting this long. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick144 Rnd5 TreVeyon Henderson
A running back of that caliber at pick 144 is the definition of value, full stop. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick158 Rnd5 Dorian Strong
They paid a round early for Dorian Strong in pick No. 158, more than the board wanted. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick185 Rnd6 Antwane Wells Jr.
Nothing to complain about; Antwane Wells Jr. went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. The roster fit checks out.
Pick206 Rnd6 Hudson Card
A real head-scratcher, Hudson Card in the 206th pick is miles ahead of his ranking. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
