FutureA+
The Jets bled value on every deal, hence the C. You can lose a draft before you make a pick. The Jets did it at the trade table, overpaying to chase players the board did not price nearly as high.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped cornerback, which is a strange place to end up. They banked enough surplus on Mendoza to cover a lot of smaller sins.
Call it incomplete, and check back in a couple of seasons.
Pick Analysis
Pick19
Rnd1
Jordyn Tyson
In Round 1, Pick 19 they get a home-run threat at receiver. A real need, handled.
Pick33
Rnd2
Fernando Mendoza
The board had Fernando Mendoza higher than pick 33, and the quarterback fell to them anyway. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick34
Rnd2
Christen Miller
Christen Miller at slot 34 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick65
Rnd3
A'Mauri Washington
A market-rate interior defensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on A'Mauri Washington. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
