Draft Grade — Jets
Overall B
ValueA- NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
Grand theft in pick 72: the Jets steal Daniels and grade out a B.

You could see the war room lean forward. Jayden Daniels at the Round 3 slot is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B.

Leaving safety unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. They will need Byrd to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.

Pick Analysis
Pick10 Rnd1 Marvin Harrison Jr.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Marvin Harrison Jr. at No. 10. The roster fit checks out.
Pick72 Rnd3 Jayden Daniels
Taking Jayden Daniels in the 72nd overall pick is close to grand larceny; a quarterback that good had no business lasting this long. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick111 Rnd4 Dominick Puni
The board fumbled Dominick Puni all the way to the 111th pick, and they scooped it up. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick113 Rnd4 Cooper Beebe
A top-tier offensive lineman at a bargain, Cooper Beebe in slot 113, plain and simple. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick185 Rnd6 Josh Newton
Josh Newton in the Round 6 slot is a gift, value that borders on unfair. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick218 Rnd6 Xavier Thomas
Xavier Thomas in pick No. 218 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick256 Rnd7 Frank Gore Jr.
Frank Gore Jr. in Round 7, Pick 36 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick257 Rnd7 Solomon Byrd
A conviction pick on Solomon Byrd at pick 257 that the board grades a round light. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
