No fireworks, just a tidy B- for the Jets.

The one they had to fix is still broken. The Jets left edge rusher untouched, and that omission hangs over an otherwise reasonable haul.

However the rest shakes out, Puni at that price is a win they earned. On the needs board they went 5 of 8, with quarterback the one that mattered most.

A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.

Quinn Ewers at the Round 3 slot is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the quarterback. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.

Dominick Puni slid further than he should have, and the 111th pick is lovely value for the offensive lineman. A need, and now a little less of one.

Ben Bywater at pick No. 187 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.

Dwight McGlothern at the 229th overall pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.

A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Walter Rouse. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.

Nice patience on Evan Williams, who had no business lasting to Round 7, Pick 36. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
