Larceny in the 42nd pick lands the Jets a B-, Emmanwori and all. Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Nick Emmanwori got past him. The Jets do not have to explain a thing at slot 42.
That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. The cost of the Warren reach is exactly the players who went right after him.
Cornerback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. They came away with juice, if not much beef up front.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick7
Rnd1
Tyler Warren
In the 7th overall pick they get a matchup weapon at tight end, though they paid up to get him.
Pick42
Rnd2
Nick Emmanwori
Steal is underselling it; Nick Emmanwori at slot 42 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick73
Rnd3
Jack Bech
Jack Bech at pick 73 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the wide receiver. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick110
Rnd4
Zy Alexander
They let Zy Alexander come to them and pounced at pick No. 110. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick145
Rnd5
Malachi Moore
Malachi Moore at the 145th pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick162
Rnd5
Jah Joyner
A clean, defensible pick in No. 162 with a little surplus value in Jah Joyner. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick186
Rnd6
Ajani Cornelius
The board had Ajani Cornelius higher than the Round 6 slot, and the offensive lineman fell to them anyway. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick207
Rnd6
Brandon Crenshaw-Dickson
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Brandon Crenshaw-Dickson in Round 6, Pick 31. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
