The Bengals cashed the board's mistake on McGowan: A-. The trade table was a mismatch, and the Bengals were on the right end of it, hauling in a fortune in surplus value.
McGowan falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. For all the activity, tight end went untouched, which is hard to explain.
It is a haul that will look even better come September.
Pick Analysis
Pick30
Rnd1
Chris Brazzell II
In slot 30 they get a matchup problem out wide. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick41
Rnd2
Emmanuel Pregnon
A straight-up fair deal on Emmanuel Pregnon at Round 2, Pick 9, value and slot in agreement. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick72
Rnd3
Dontay Corleone
A clean, defensible pick in the 72nd pick with a little surplus value in Dontay Corleone. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick187
Rnd6
Ephesians Prysock
No drama and no debate, Ephesians Prysock went about where he belonged in No. 187. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick194
Rnd6
VJ Payne
By-the-book stuff, VJ Payne at the 194th overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick197
Rnd6
Seth McGowan
Somehow Seth McGowan was still sitting there in pick No. 197, and they pounced on premier running back value. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick226
Rnd7
Raylen Wilson
They did well to land Raylen Wilson in pick 226, just ahead of his grade. A need, and now a little less of one.
