Draft Grade — Bears

FutureA-
The Bears answered their biggest question with Williams. Grade: B+. The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Bears spent their marquee pick on Caleb Williams, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback. No fireworks, but a solid B+.
That Jean-Baptiste pick is the receipt they will wave around later. The running back hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
Legette has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but running back.
Pick Analysis
Pick1
Rnd1
Caleb Williams
In the 1st pick they get a long-term answer under center. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick18
Rnd1
Jer'Zhan Newton
In No. 18 they get a load in the middle at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick44
Rnd2
Xavier Legette
The board had cheaper options than Xavier Legette at pick 44, and it noticed. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick122
Rnd4
Hunter Nourzad
Good price on Hunter Nourzad in slot 122, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick224
Rnd7
Javontae Jean-Baptiste
They will replay Javontae Jean-Baptiste at the Round 7 slot for years; that is how good the value is. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
