Draft Grade — Giants
Overall D
ValueB+ NeedB TradesF FutureC+
Beck is the plan now, and the Giants grade out a D.

Call it belief, call it a gut call, but Davin Vann at slot 219 is 40 spots clear of consensus, and that is the headline. A D that will need time and luck to look better.

The trade table is where this weekend went wrong. Carson Beck gives the offense a face and a plan, and the grade leans heavily on whether he hits.

However the rest shakes out, Perkins Jr. at that price is a win they earned. On the needs board they went 9 of 9, with interior defensive lineman the one that mattered most.

A rough weekend that leaves the roster with more questions than answers.

Pick Analysis
Pick6 Rnd1 Will Campbell
In No. 6 they get protection for the quarterback. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick7 Rnd1 Carson Beck
In the Round 1 slot they get the face of the franchise at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick38 Rnd2 Benjamin Morrison
Somehow Benjamin Morrison was still sitting there in pick No. 38, and they pounced on premier cornerback value. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick70 Rnd3 Harold Perkins Jr.
The board fumbled Harold Perkins Jr. all the way to the 70th pick, and they scooped it up. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick71 Rnd3 Colston Loveland
Taking Colston Loveland in the 71st overall pick is close to grand larceny; a tight end that good had no business lasting this long. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick102 Rnd4 T.J. Sanders
A interior defensive lineman of that caliber at Round 4, Pick 6 is the definition of value, full stop. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick134 Rnd5 Jaxson Dart
A top-tier quarterback at a bargain, Jaxson Dart in the 134th overall pick, plain and simple. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick139 Rnd5 Luke Kandra
You do not let an offensive lineman like Luke Kandra reach pick 139 and blink. They did not. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick140 Rnd5 Kyle Monangai
Circle this one: Kyle Monangai at Round 5, Pick 12 is a fall that decides a draft. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick166 Rnd6 Maxwell Hairston
A tidy bit of business in No. 166, where Maxwell Hairston graded well above the range. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick172 Rnd6 Hunter Wohler
Hunter Wohler in pick No. 172 is fair value, right on his grade. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick198 Rnd7 Jack Kiser
Jack Kiser at the 198th pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the linebacker. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
Pick199 Rnd7 Noah Thomas
They paid sticker price for Noah Thomas in the Round 7 slot, and that is fine. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick204 Rnd7 Tim Smith
No edge and no loss on Tim Smith in slot 204; it is a wash and a sensible one. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick219 Rnd7 Davin Vann
Davin Vann at pick 219 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
