Draft Grade — Giants

FutureB
The Giants answered their biggest question with Beck. Grade: D. The board owed the Giants one, and it paid up: Shedeur Sanders, the No. 6 name on the board, sitting there at the 70th overall pick like a gift left on the doorstep. The math is unkind, and the D follows.
They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back. Everything downstream of Carson Beck depends on Carson Beck, and the building knows it. Mills has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.
The verdict is not kind, and fairly so; this class has a hill to climb.
Pick Analysis
Pick7
Rnd1
Carson Beck
In pick 7 they get a passer to set the clock by at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick13
Rnd1
Will Johnson
Will Johnson slipping to the 13th pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick38
Rnd2
Jack Sawyer
Jack Sawyer slid further than he should have, and Round 2, Pick 6 is lovely value for the edge rusher. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick45
Rnd2
Ollie Gordon II
They will replay Ollie Gordon II at No. 45 for years; that is how good the value is. The roster fit checks out.
Pick70
Rnd3
Shedeur Sanders
Taking Shedeur Sanders in slot 70 is close to grand larceny; a quarterback that good had no business lasting this long. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick71
Rnd3
Tez Johnson
A tidy bit of business in the 71st overall pick, where Tez Johnson graded well above the range. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick72
Rnd3
Oscar Delp
Oscar Delp at pick 72 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick102
Rnd4
Earnest Greene III
Steal is underselling it; Earnest Greene III at the Round 4 slot is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick103
Rnd4
Rod Moore
They barely believed it either: Rod Moore still on the board at pick No. 103. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick104
Rnd4
Jalon Walker
No drama and no debate, Jalon Walker went about where he belonged in the 104th pick. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick105
Rnd4
J.C. Davis
By-the-book stuff, J.C. Davis at Round 4, Pick 9 squarely in line with his ranking. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick106
Rnd4
Luke Kandra
A straight-up fair deal on Luke Kandra at No. 106, value and slot in agreement. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick107
Rnd4
Aeneas Peebles
A conviction pick on Aeneas Peebles at the 107th overall pick that the board grades a round light. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick112
Rnd4
Rylie Mills
Rylie Mills in pick 112 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick134
Rnd5
Jaxson Dart
Somehow Jaxson Dart was still sitting there in the Round 5 slot, and they pounced on premier quarterback value. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick135
Rnd5
Smael Mondon Jr.
They robbed the room for Smael Mondon Jr. here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick144
Rnd5
Billy Bowman Jr.
No edge and no loss on Billy Bowman Jr. in the 144th pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick145
Rnd5
Davison Igbinosun
They went early on Davison Igbinosun in pick No. 145, and the value did not follow. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick166
Rnd6
Aireontae Ersery
Aireontae Ersery at No. 166 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick198
Rnd7
Julian Fleming
Julian Fleming in Round 7, Pick 6 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick199
Rnd7
Jack Kiser
Jack Kiser at the Round 7 slot is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
Pick208
Rnd7
Oronde Gadsden II
Value said wait; Oronde Gadsden II in the 208th overall pick says they were not listening. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick219
Rnd7
Armand Membou
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Armand Membou at pick No. 219 is the proof. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
