Draft Grade — Giants

FutureB-
A passer of the future in Beck, and a D, for the Giants. Somebody in Round 5, Pick 6 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Giants sat still while Xavier Nwankpa, the No. 39 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. Too much went sideways, and the D is the honest tally.
The whole projection now runs through Carson Beck; hit there and everything else looks smarter. Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. Reaching for Kuithe left real value on the table behind him.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with interior defensive lineman chief among the fixes.
It is a steep hill from here, and the grade knows it.
Pick Analysis
Pick6
Rnd1
Carson Beck
In No. 6 they get their guy under center for the next decade at fair value.
Pick15
Rnd1
Luther Burden III
In pick No. 15 they get a difference-maker at receiver at a price that makes it sweeter. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick27
Rnd1
Jabbar Muhammad
In the 27th overall pick they get an island corner at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick38
Rnd2
Emery Jones Jr.
A clean, defensible pick in the Round 2 slot with a little surplus value in Emery Jones Jr.. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick39
Rnd2
Ashton Gillotte
They did well to land Ashton Gillotte in pick 39, just ahead of his grade. It fills a real need, too.
Pick40
Rnd2
Walter Nolen
No edge and no loss on Walter Nolen in slot 40; it is a wash and a sensible one. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick41
Rnd2
Tyler Booker
A straight-up fair deal on Tyler Booker at pick No. 41, value and slot in agreement. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick70
Rnd3
Maxwell Hairston
Maxwell Hairston at the 70th pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick102
Rnd4
Jalen Milroe
The board fumbled Jalen Milroe all the way to No. 102, and they scooped it up. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick134
Rnd5
Xavier Nwankpa
They robbed the room for Xavier Nwankpa here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick135
Rnd5
Smael Mondon Jr.
Smael Mondon Jr. at slot 135 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick136
Rnd5
Raheim Sanders
A running back of that caliber at the 136th pick is the definition of value, full stop. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick166
Rnd6
Fernando Carmona Jr.
Steal is underselling it; Fernando Carmona Jr. at the Round 6 slot is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick168
Rnd6
Brant Kuithe
They left a pile of value on the table to take Brant Kuithe this early at pick 168. The roster fit checks out.
Pick198
Rnd7
Jack Kiser
They paid up for Jack Kiser at No. 198 when waiting would have done the job. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
Pick219
Rnd7
Thor Griffith
A reach for Thor Griffith in the 219th overall pick; a little patience would have been rewarded. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
