FutureC+
The Giants left with their quarterback, and a D to match. The rest of the league will want that one back. Quinn Ewers tumbling to the Giants in Round 3, Pick 21 is a gift they did not have to think twice about. The board pushed back all weekend, and the D is the result.
Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. Carson Beck is the bet, and the class will be judged on how it pays off. The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
In short, the board sent warnings, and they will be hoping it was wrong.
Pick Analysis
Pick15
Rnd1
Will Campbell
In No. 15 they get a plug-and-play piece up front, and a steal at that. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick16
Rnd1
Carson Beck
In pick No. 16 they get the arm they will build around, outstanding value to boot.
Pick19
Rnd1
Deone Walker
Deone Walker slipping to pick 19 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick22
Rnd1
Tetairoa McMillan
In No. 22 they get a home-run threat at receiver at a price that makes it sweeter. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick23
Rnd1
Harold Perkins Jr.
In the Round 1 slot they get a downhill thumper at linebacker, and a steal at that. More want than need.
Pick70
Rnd3
Shedeur Sanders
Shedeur Sanders in Round 3, Pick 6 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick71
Rnd3
Tacario Davis
Tacario Davis in the 71st pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick83
Rnd3
Denzel Burke
Circle this one: Denzel Burke at pick No. 83 is a fall that decides a draft. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick85
Rnd3
Quinn Ewers
They robbed the room for Quinn Ewers here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. The roster fit checks out.
Pick86
Rnd3
Shilo Sanders
Shilo Sanders at slot 86 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick88
Rnd3
Oscar Delp
A reasonable price with a little left over, Oscar Delp in the Round 3 slot. It fills a real need, too.
Pick134
Rnd5
Wyatt Milum
Steal is underselling it; Wyatt Milum at the 134th overall pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick135
Rnd5
Drew Allar
A quarterback of that caliber at Round 5, Pick 7 is the definition of value, full stop. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick144
Rnd5
Raheim Sanders
The board had Raheim Sanders higher than pick 144, and the running back fell to them anyway. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick167
Rnd6
Billy Bowman Jr.
Billy Bowman Jr. at the 167th pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
