Draft Grade — Giants

The Giants drew a line under the quarterback search with Sanders: D. Boards are made to be trusted, and the Giants shredded theirs for Tommy Mellott. He came off 105 spots early, and the room will hear about it. The process wobbled, and the D is where it lands.
That is a running back worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. The whole projection now runs through Shedeur Sanders; hit there and everything else looks smarter.
The dealing is the wound this class cannot quite close.
It is a steep hill from here, and the grade knows it.
Pick Analysis
Pick2
Rnd1
Shedeur Sanders
In Round 1, Pick 2 they get the arm they will build around. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick34
Rnd2
Emeka Egbuka
Emeka Egbuka slid further than he should have, and the 34th pick is lovely value for the wide receiver. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick65
Rnd3
Trey Amos
Trey Amos at the 65th overall pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick84
Rnd3
Nic Scourton
Nic Scourton in pick 84 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick104
Rnd4
Mike Green
Mike Green at the Round 4 slot is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick122
Rnd4
Jihaad Campbell
Steal is underselling it; Jihaad Campbell at No. 122 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick134
Rnd4
Andrew Mukuba
They will replay Andrew Mukuba at slot 134 for years; that is how good the value is. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick150
Rnd5
Oronde Gadsden II
They read the board right and Oronde Gadsden II was the payoff at Round 5, Pick 12. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick157
Rnd5
Jordan Burch
Jordan Burch at the Round 5 slot is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick197
Rnd6
Jordan James
Taking Jordan James in No. 197 is close to grand larceny; a running back that good had no business lasting this long. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick219
Rnd7
Smael Mondon Jr.
Circle this one: Smael Mondon Jr. at pick No. 219 is a fall that decides a draft. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
Pick246
Rnd7
Bryce Foster
You do not let an offensive lineman like Bryce Foster reach the 246th pick and blink. They did not. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick256
Rnd7
Tommy Mellott
Tommy Mellott in pick 256 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
