Draft Grade — Giants

FutureB
A passer of the future in Beck, and a D, for the Giants. Boards are made to be trusted, and the Giants shredded theirs for Jalin Conyers. He came off 94 spots early, and the room will hear about it. It grades a D, and the process earned it.
Ayomanor at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. The trade table is where this weekend went wrong. Everything downstream of Carson Beck depends on Carson Beck, and the building knows it.
In the end, a class the front office will want to grow past quickly.
Pick Analysis
Pick7
Rnd1
Will Johnson
In the 7th overall pick they get a potential shutdown corner at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick8
Rnd1
Will Campbell
In the 8th pick they get an anchor for the offensive line. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick9
Rnd1
Deone Walker
A market-rate interior defensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Deone Walker. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick11
Rnd1
Carson Beck
In No. 11 they get a franchise quarterback at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick38
Rnd2
JT Tuimoloau
Quietly one of the better values of the day, JT Tuimoloau at slot 38. The roster fit checks out.
Pick54
Rnd2
Quinshon Judkins
The board fumbled Quinshon Judkins all the way to pick 54, and they scooped it up. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick55
Rnd2
Tyleik Williams
You do not let an interior defensive lineman like Tyleik Williams reach Round 2, Pick 23 and blink. They did not. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick72
Rnd3
Jaxson Dart
A top-tier quarterback at a bargain, Jaxson Dart in the Round 3 slot, plain and simple. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick102
Rnd4
Tez Johnson
Tez Johnson in slot 102 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick134
Rnd5
Elic Ayomanor
Circle this one: Elic Ayomanor at pick 134 is a fall that decides a draft. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick135
Rnd5
Jalon Walker
A edge rusher of that caliber at the 135th pick is the definition of value, full stop. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick136
Rnd5
Smael Mondon Jr.
Steal is underselling it; Smael Mondon Jr. at the 136th overall pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick137
Rnd5
J.C. Davis
They will replay J.C. Davis at pick No. 137 for years; that is how good the value is. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick139
Rnd5
Luke Kandra
Luke Kandra at No. 139 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick166
Rnd6
Nick Emmanwori
Somehow Nick Emmanwori was still sitting there in Round 6, Pick 6, and they pounced on premier safety value. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick198
Rnd7
Oronde Gadsden II
They reached into another round for Oronde Gadsden II, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick200
Rnd7
Theo Wease Jr.
By-the-book stuff, Theo Wease Jr. at slot 200 squarely in line with his ranking. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick201
Rnd7
Cade Klubnik
Taking Cade Klubnik in pick 201 is close to grand larceny; a quarterback that good had no business lasting this long. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick219
Rnd7
Armand Membou
Good price on Armand Membou in the 219th overall pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick220
Rnd7
Francisco Mauigoa
They paid sticker price for Francisco Mauigoa in pick No. 220, and that is fine. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
Pick221
Rnd7
Thor Griffith
Thor Griffith at the Round 7 slot is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick222
Rnd7
Jordan James
Jordan James at the 222nd pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It fills a real need, too.
Pick223
Rnd7
Jalin Conyers
A wild overpay on Jalin Conyers in pick No. 223, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick224
Rnd7
Seth McLaughlin
No drama and no debate, Seth McLaughlin went about where he belonged in the Round 7 slot. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
