The Giants found their guy under center in Maye: D-. The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Giants reached some 96 spots for Caedan Wallace, and value like that does not grow back. The process wobbled, and the D- is where it lands.
The trade table is where this weekend went wrong. Whatever Drake Maye becomes, the front office has tied its fortunes to the answer. Phillips falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with interior defensive lineman chief among the fixes.
Bottom line, they will be counting on several picks to beat their grades.
