Draft Grade — Giants

Quarterback settled, Beck in the fold, and a D for the Giants. Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Giants were there to profit. Jalen Milroe, the No. 38 name on the board, should have been long gone before No. 104. Too much went sideways, and the D is the honest tally.
They lost the exchange badly enough to drag the whole class down. Everything downstream of Carson Beck depends on Carson Beck, and the building knows it.
They are betting Bowman Jr. proves the room right and everyone else wrong.
Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even.
Pick Analysis
Pick8
Rnd1
Carson Beck
In the Round 1 slot they get a long-term answer under center. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick9
Rnd1
Will Campbell
In slot 9 they get a building block for the line at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick38
Rnd2
Benjamin Morrison
A top-tier cornerback at a bargain, Benjamin Morrison in the Round 2 slot, plain and simple. It fills a real need, too.
Pick40
Rnd2
Luther Burden III
They will replay Luther Burden III at the 40th pick for years; that is how good the value is. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick70
Rnd3
Princely Umanmielen
Taking Princely Umanmielen in slot 70 is close to grand larceny; an edge rusher that good had no business lasting this long. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick71
Rnd3
T.J. Sanders
The board had cheaper options than T.J. Sanders at the 71st overall pick, and it noticed. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick72
Rnd3
Ashton Jeanty
Ashton Jeanty at Round 3, Pick 8 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick104
Rnd4
Jalen Milroe
Jalen Milroe at pick 104 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick115
Rnd4
Blake Miller
Steal is underselling it; Blake Miller at pick No. 115 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick116
Rnd4
J. Michael Sturdivant
J. Michael Sturdivant at No. 116 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the wide receiver. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick139
Rnd5
Oscar Delp
Oscar Delp at pick 139 is money in the bank, a tight end taken below his worth. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick145
Rnd5
Nick Emmanwori
They robbed the room for Nick Emmanwori here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick147
Rnd5
Billy Bowman Jr.
They paid up for Billy Bowman Jr. at the 147th overall pick when waiting would have done the job. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick166
Rnd6
Dorian Strong
Nothing to complain about; Dorian Strong went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick198
Rnd7
Xavier Truss
No edge and no loss on Xavier Truss in No. 198; it is a wash and a sensible one. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick200
Rnd7
J.J. Weaver
They jumped the gun on J.J. Weaver, taking him earlier than his grade liked. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
