Draft Grade — Giants
Overall
D
ValueB+

TradesF
FutureB-
The Giants let Hancock fall into their laps, and walked away with a D. The trade table was where it all came apart. The Giants shipped out far more than they hauled back, and no amount of spin dresses up the bill. The board pushed back all weekend, and the D is the result.
The Gadsden II reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. The Hancock value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. The roster is better shaped than it was, with interior defensive lineman chief among the fixes.
They trusted the board more than the depth chart.
In short, the board sent warnings, and they will be hoping it was wrong.
Pick Analysis
Pick13
Rnd1
Will Johnson
In the 13th pick they get a sticky cover corner, outstanding value to boot. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick14
Rnd1
Mason Graham
In pick 14 they get a disruptive interior force at a price that makes it sweeter. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick15
Rnd1
Will Campbell
In the Round 1 slot they get protection for the quarterback, and a steal at that. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick16
Rnd1
Nic Scourton
In Round 1, Pick 16 they get a premier pass rusher at fair value.
Pick39
Rnd2
Abdul Carter
Abdul Carter in No. 39 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick70
Rnd3
Evan Stewart
Evan Stewart slid further than he should have, and the 70th overall pick is lovely value for the wide receiver. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick71
Rnd3
Drew Allar
Drew Allar is a better player than Round 3, Pick 7 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. The roster fit checks out.
Pick72
Rnd3
Tate Ratledge
They let Tate Ratledge come to them and pounced at No. 72. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick74
Rnd3
Conner Weigman
Somehow Conner Weigman was still sitting there in the 74th pick, and they pounced on premier quarterback value. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick80
Rnd3
Barion Brown
They robbed the room for Barion Brown here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick102
Rnd4
Jordan Hancock
Jordan Hancock at pick 102 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick134
Rnd5
Damien Martinez
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Damien Martinez at the Round 5 slot. It fills a real need, too.
Pick138
Rnd5
Nick Emmanwori
Nice patience on Nick Emmanwori, who had no business lasting to pick No. 138. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick139
Rnd5
Terrance Ferguson
A reach on Terrance Ferguson in slot 139; the board had better options right there. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick166
Rnd6
Thor Griffith
Value said wait; Thor Griffith in slot 166 says they were not listening. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick198
Rnd7
Jack Kiser
Jack Kiser in No. 198 is fair value, right on his grade. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
Pick206
Rnd7
Kaidon Salter
Kaidon Salter at Round 7, Pick 14 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick207
Rnd7
Marques Cox
Marques Cox in pick 207 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick209
Rnd7
Mason Taylor
A straight-up fair deal on Mason Taylor at the 209th pick, value and slot in agreement. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick219
Rnd7
Oronde Gadsden II
Oronde Gadsden II at pick No. 219 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
