Draft Grade — Giants
Overall A-
ValueA- NeedB TradesA+ FutureA-
Best value of the weekend goes to the Giants for Uiagalelei: A-.

Call it larceny. DJ Uiagalelei sat on the board until the 208th overall pick, and the Giants did not need to be asked twice. A near-flawless weekend of work, and a A- to cap it.

The phones were where this weekend was really won. Reaching for Oatis left real value on the table behind him.

Job largely done: interior defensive lineman settled and 9 of 9 of the wish list covered. The future picks help the war chest more than the win-now roster.

Add it up and few war rooms did better this weekend, Will Campbell and all.

Pick Analysis
Pick16 Rnd1 Will Campbell
Will Campbell at pick 16 is money in the bank, a offensive lineman taken below his worth. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick38 Rnd2 Tetairoa McMillan
Somehow Tetairoa McMillan was still sitting there in slot 38, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick46 Rnd2 Isaiah Bond
A tidy bit of business in pick No. 46, where Isaiah Bond graded well above the range. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick70 Rnd3 Omarion Hampton
Taking Omarion Hampton in the 70th overall pick is close to grand larceny; a running back that good had no business lasting this long. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick102 Rnd4 Xavier Nwankpa
They will replay Xavier Nwankpa at Round 4, Pick 6 for years; that is how good the value is. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick103 Rnd4 Dani Dennis-Sutton
A edge rusher of that caliber at No. 103 is the definition of value, full stop. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick104 Rnd4 Josh Conerly Jr.
They robbed the room for Josh Conerly Jr. here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick105 Rnd4 Drew Allar
Drew Allar in the 105th pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick106 Rnd4 Jalen Milroe
Jalen Milroe at the 106th pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick107 Rnd4 Oronde Gadsden II
They paid sticker price for Oronde Gadsden II in pick No. 107, and that is fine. The roster fit checks out.
Pick108 Rnd4 Sebastian Castro
Sebastian Castro in the Round 4 slot is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick109 Rnd4 Jason Marshall Jr.
A market-rate cornerback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jason Marshall Jr.. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick134 Rnd5 Will Sheppard
Will Sheppard in pick 134 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick139 Rnd5 TreVeyon Henderson
They barely believed it either: TreVeyon Henderson still on the board at slot 139. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick144 Rnd5 Smael Mondon Jr.
The board fumbled Smael Mondon Jr. all the way to No. 144, and they scooped it up. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick145 Rnd5 J. Michael Sturdivant
J. Michael Sturdivant at the 145th overall pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick166 Rnd6 Graham Mertz
You do not let a quarterback like Graham Mertz reach pick 166 and blink. They did not. It fills a real need, too.
Pick169 Rnd6 Jack Kiser
Circle this one: Jack Kiser at the Round 6 slot is a fall that decides a draft. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
Pick198 Rnd7 Gentry Williams
Gentry Williams at the 198th pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick208 Rnd7 DJ Uiagalelei
A top-tier quarterback at a bargain, DJ Uiagalelei in Round 7, Pick 16, plain and simple. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick212 Rnd7 Dorian Strong
Dorian Strong in slot 212 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick213 Rnd7 Savion Williams
They did well to land Savion Williams in the 213th overall pick, just ahead of his grade. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick214 Rnd7 Brian Ugwu
A conviction pick on Brian Ugwu at pick No. 214 that the board grades a round light. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick217 Rnd7 Steve Linton
A clean, defensible pick in No. 217 with a little surplus value in Steve Linton. The roster fit checks out.
Pick218 Rnd7 Theo Wease Jr.
Theo Wease Jr. in the 218th overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick219 Rnd7 Tony Grimes
A straight-up fair deal on Tony Grimes at the 219th pick, value and slot in agreement. It does not line up with the team's obvious holes.
Pick221 Rnd7 Jaheim Oatis
They paid a round early for Jaheim Oatis in the Round 7 slot, more than the board wanted. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
