jkase DRAFTING FOR THEGiants

Draft Grade — Giants

FutureB
Quarterback settled, Beck in the fold, and a D for the Giants. The Giants lost the trade war and it was not close, handing partners the better end again and again. It grades a D, and the process earned it.
Carson Beck is the bet, and the class will be judged on how it pays off. The safety hole is the one line item this class does not answer. On value alone, Brown makes the weekend a net positive.
They will need Kiser to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.
Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, safety very much included.
Pick Analysis
Pick6
Rnd1
Carson Beck
In the 6th pick they get a passer to set the clock by. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick17
Rnd1
Travis Hunter
In pick 17 they get a ballhawk on the outside, and a steal at that. A real need, handled.
Pick24
Rnd1
Luther Burden III
They barely believed it either: Luther Burden III still on the board at pick No. 24. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick38
Rnd2
Walter Nolen
A straight-up fair deal on Walter Nolen at the 38th overall pick, value and slot in agreement. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick56
Rnd2
Mitchell Evans
Mitchell Evans slipping to slot 56 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick70
Rnd3
TreVeyon Henderson
You do not let a running back like TreVeyon Henderson reach Round 3, Pick 6 and blink. They did not. It fills a real need, too.
Pick81
Rnd3
Clay Webb
The board had cheaper options than Clay Webb at No. 81, and it noticed. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick102
Rnd4
J.C. Davis
They jumped the gun on J.C. Davis, taking him earlier than his grade liked. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick134
Rnd5
Kaimon Rucker
Kaimon Rucker in Round 5, Pick 6 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick139
Rnd5
Samuel Brown
A wide receiver of that caliber at the 139th overall pick is the definition of value, full stop. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick166
Rnd6
Davison Igbinosun
Davison Igbinosun at No. 166 is money in the bank, a cornerback taken below his worth. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick198
Rnd7
Jack Kiser
They paid a round early for Jack Kiser in the 198th pick, more than the board wanted. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick219
Rnd7
Francisco Mauigoa
They took Francisco Mauigoa at par in the Round 7 slot, which is nothing to complain about. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
