The Giants cashed the board's mistake on Ramsey: D. Thirty-one other rooms let Kamari Ramsey slide, and the Giants were the ones holding the card at the 198th overall pick. Highway robbery.
The trade table is where this weekend went wrong. The wide receiver hole is the one line item this class does not answer. If Dart pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about.
Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and wide receiver is still a hole.
Pick Analysis
Pick7
Rnd1
Travis Hunter
In Round 1, Pick 7 they get a potential shutdown corner. A real need, handled.
Pick9
Rnd1
Will Campbell
In pick 9 they get protection for the quarterback at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick15
Rnd1
Colston Loveland
In slot 15 they get a moveable chess piece at tight end at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick39
Rnd2
Quinshon Judkins
Quinshon Judkins at No. 39 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick40
Rnd2
Walter Nolen
They paid sticker price for Walter Nolen in the Round 2 slot, and that is fine. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick41
Rnd2
Jaxson Dart
The board had cheaper options than Jaxson Dart at pick No. 41, and it noticed. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick70
Rnd3
Jalen Milroe
Jalen Milroe slid further than he should have, and the 70th overall pick is lovely value for the quarterback. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick92
Rnd3
Jabbar Muhammad
The board fumbled Jabbar Muhammad all the way to the 92nd pick, and they scooped it up. The roster fit checks out.
Pick95
Rnd3
Sebastian Castro
Sebastian Castro is a better player than slot 95 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick102
Rnd4
Emery Jones Jr.
Emery Jones Jr. in the 102nd overall pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick124
Rnd4
Drew Allar
They barely believed it either: Drew Allar still on the board at the Round 4 slot. It fills a real need, too.
Pick125
Rnd4
J.C. Davis
They let J.C. Davis come to them and pounced at pick 125. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick134
Rnd5
Josh Conerly Jr.
They robbed the room for Josh Conerly Jr. here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick139
Rnd5
Sonny Styles
A safety of that caliber at the 139th pick is the definition of value, full stop. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick159
Rnd5
Oscar Delp
They will replay Oscar Delp at No. 159 for years; that is how good the value is. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick166
Rnd6
DeMonte Capehart
A top-tier interior defensive lineman at a bargain, DeMonte Capehart in Round 6, Pick 6, plain and simple. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick198
Rnd7
Kamari Ramsey
Kamari Ramsey in Round 7, Pick 6 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
