Draft Grade — Giants
Overall B+
ValueB+ NeedB TradesA+ FutureB-
Ewers is the Giants' new face under center. Grade: B+.

Call it larceny. Preston Stone sat on the board until the 170th pick, and the Giants did not need to be asked twice.

They have staked the next five years on Quinn Ewers, which is the only story that really matters here. They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own.

Bowman Jr. has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.

Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.

Pick Analysis
Pick22 Rnd1 Benjamin Morrison
In slot 22 they get a sticky cover corner at a price that makes it sweeter. A real need, handled.
Pick32 Rnd1 Quinn Ewers
In the Round 1 slot they get a franchise quarterback, and a steal at that.
Pick38 Rnd2 Landon Jackson
They read the board right and Landon Jackson was the payoff at pick No. 38. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick52 Rnd2 Tre Harris
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Tre Harris in slot 52. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick59 Rnd2 Mitchell Evans
Mitchell Evans slipping to No. 59 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick74 Rnd3 Xavier Nwankpa
Taking Xavier Nwankpa in Round 3, Pick 10 is close to grand larceny; a safety that good had no business lasting this long. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick92 Rnd3 Drew Allar
They will replay Drew Allar at the 92nd overall pick for years; that is how good the value is. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick93 Rnd3 Tez Johnson
A wide receiver of that caliber at pick 93 is the definition of value, full stop. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick94 Rnd3 Jonah Monheim
A reasonable price with a little left over, Jonah Monheim in the Round 3 slot. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick95 Rnd3 Deontae Lawson
Deontae Lawson in the 95th pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick98 Rnd4 Oscar Delp
The board had Oscar Delp higher than the Round 4 slot, and the tight end fell to them anyway. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick134 Rnd5 Gentry Williams
Gentry Williams at the 134th overall pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick138 Rnd5 Jaxson Dart
Jaxson Dart at pick No. 138 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick140 Rnd5 Ricky White
They robbed the room for Ricky White here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick144 Rnd5 Jay Higgins
Jay Higgins at No. 144 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
Pick158 Rnd5 Lathan Ransom
Good price on Lathan Ransom in slot 158, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick159 Rnd5 Roman Hemby
A slide stopped in pick 159, with Roman Hemby worth more than the price. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick160 Rnd5 Alfred Collins
Alfred Collins at the 160th pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick162 Rnd6 Billy Bowman Jr.
Billy Bowman Jr. in the 162nd overall pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick166 Rnd6 Marques Cox
No edge and no loss on Marques Cox in pick 166; it is a wash and a sensible one. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick170 Rnd6 Preston Stone
Preston Stone in Round 6, Pick 10 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick187 Rnd6 Antwaun Powell-Ryland
The board had cheaper options than Antwaun Powell-Ryland at the Round 6 slot, and it noticed. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick198 Rnd7 Bru McCoy
By-the-book stuff, Bru McCoy at No. 198 squarely in line with his ranking. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick216 Rnd7 Brian Ugwu
Brian Ugwu in slot 216 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It fills a real need, too.
