Draft Grade — Cowboys
Overall B
ValueB NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
The Cowboys kept it disciplined and banked a B.

You can fall in love with a player. You are not supposed to marry him in the wrong round. The Cowboys did exactly that with Phillip Webb in the 190th overall pick. Good, not great, and the B says as much.

The Booker value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. For all the activity, cornerback went untouched, which is hard to explain.

Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. They came away with juice, if not much beef up front.

Good work on the whole, with cornerback the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick13 Rnd1 Ashton Jeanty
A slide stopped in the Round 1 slot, with Ashton Jeanty worth more than the price. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick44 Rnd2 Smael Mondon Jr.
Smael Mondon Jr. at Round 2, Pick 12 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick78 Rnd3 Trey Zuhn III
A big swing on Trey Zuhn III at pick 78, well ahead of any board in the building. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick150 Rnd5 Tyler Booker
They robbed the room for Tyler Booker here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick169 Rnd5 Eli Stowers
Eli Stowers in No. 169 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick170 Rnd5 Ricky White III
A reach for Ricky White III in the 170th pick; a little patience would have been rewarded. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick171 Rnd5 Mykel Williams
The board had Mykel Williams higher than pick No. 171, and the edge rusher fell to them anyway. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick190 Rnd6 Phillip Webb
Phillip Webb in the 190th overall pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick209 Rnd6 Le'Veon Moss
Circle this one: Le'Veon Moss at Round 6, Pick 34 is a fall that decides a draft. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
