Draft Grade — Saints
Overall B-
ValueC+ NeedB+ TradesD FutureA
The Saints did the meat-and-potatoes work well: B-.

The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Saints reached some 25 spots for Bryson Nesbit, and value like that does not grow back. Call it a sensible B-, earned the boring way.

They banked enough surplus on Williams to cover a lot of smaller sins. The dealing tilted against them, just enough to notice. The future picks help the war chest more than the win-now roster.

On the needs board they went 8 of 8, with edge rusher the one that mattered most.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.

Pick Analysis
Pick33 Rnd2 Tyler Booker
Tyler Booker in pick 33 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick40 Rnd2 JT Tuimoloau
JT Tuimoloau in No. 40 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick43 Rnd2 Jihaad Campbell
Jihaad Campbell at the Round 2 slot nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick71 Rnd3 Jalen Milroe
Value said wait; Jalen Milroe in Round 3, Pick 7 says they were not listening. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick112 Rnd4 Savion Williams
They will replay Savion Williams at the 112th pick for years; that is how good the value is. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick131 Rnd4 Mello Dotson
No edge and no loss on Mello Dotson in pick No. 131; it is a wash and a sensible one. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick184 Rnd6 Nazir Stackhouse
They left a pile of value on the table to take Nazir Stackhouse this early at Round 6, Pick 8. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick248 Rnd7 Corey Kiner
Corey Kiner in the 248th pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick254 Rnd7 Bryson Nesbit
A big swing on Bryson Nesbit at the Round 7 slot, well ahead of any board in the building. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
