Draft Grade — Broncos
Overall B
ValueB+ NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
The Broncos won the night they stopped Evans from sliding. Grade: B.

When a board-topper like Mitchell Evans slides to pick 193, you do not overthink it, and the Broncos did not. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.

If Kuithe pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up.

The roster is better shaped than it was, with linebacker chief among the fixes. The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.

Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick20 Rnd1 Nick Emmanwori
In the 20th pick they get a rangy last line of defense at fair value. More want than need.
Pick51 Rnd2 Kenneth Grant
Kenneth Grant at pick 51 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick85 Rnd3 TreVeyon Henderson
Taking TreVeyon Henderson in the 85th overall pick is close to grand larceny; a running back that good had no business lasting this long. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick121 Rnd4 Tez Johnson
They barely believed it either: Tez Johnson still on the board at slot 121. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick193 Rnd6 Mitchell Evans
Circle this one: Mitchell Evans at Round 6, Pick 15 is a fall that decides a draft. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick199 Rnd6 Brant Kuithe
Brant Kuithe at the Round 6 slot is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick210 Rnd6 Jack Kiser
Value with a capital V on Jack Kiser in pick No. 210, a genuine coup. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
