Draft Grade — Patriots
Overall
B
ValueB-
NeedB-
TradesA+
FutureB-
The Patriots robbed the room for Hurst. Final grade: B. This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Ted Hurst, the No. 175 name on the board, stolen at the Round 6 slot. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.
The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. Reaching for Fisher left real value on the table behind him. That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
Pick Analysis
Pick125
Rnd4
Bud Clark
They paid sticker price for Bud Clark in Round 4, Pick 25, and that is fine. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick131
Rnd4
Dametrious Crownover
No drama and no debate, Dametrious Crownover went about where he belonged in the 131st pick. It fills a real need, too.
Pick134
Rnd4
Eli Raridon
Nothing to complain about; Eli Raridon went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick137
Rnd4
Jaeden Roberts
Jaeden Roberts in slot 137 is fair value, right on his grade. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick169
Rnd5
Domani Jackson
The board had Domani Jackson higher than the 169th overall pick, and the cornerback fell to them anyway. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick189
Rnd6
Marlin Klein
Marlin Klein at the Round 6 slot is money in the bank, a tight end taken below his worth. The roster fit checks out.
Pick200
Rnd6
Jadon Canady
They jumped the gun on Jadon Canady, taking him earlier than his grade liked. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
Pick207
Rnd6
Ted Hurst
You do not let a wide receiver like Ted Hurst reach No. 207 and blink. They did not. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick210
Rnd6
Aiden Fisher
They reached a country mile for Aiden Fisher at the 210th pick, and the board is aghast. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick247
Rnd7
Owen Heinecke
Owen Heinecke at slot 247 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A pick in search of a role on this roster.
