FutureB-
The Steelers finally solved quarterback, and it carried them to a A-. Call it larceny. Sonny Styles sat on the board until Round 7, Pick 20, and the Steelers did not need to be asked twice. Little to argue with here, and the A- says so.
So much rides on Dante Moore that the rest of the class almost grades on a curve behind him. For all the activity, interior defensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain.
The Dorian Williams deal gives the class an established piece to lean on.
Add it up and this is about as clean as a draft weekend gets.
Pick Analysis
Pick20
Rnd1
Dante Moore
In No. 20 they get their guy under center for the next decade, outstanding value to boot. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick59
Rnd2
Jordyn Tyson
They will replay Jordyn Tyson at the 59th overall pick for years; that is how good the value is. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick78
Rnd3
Avieon Terrell
Avieon Terrell at the 78th overall pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. The roster fit checks out.
Pick85
Rnd3
Spencer Fano
Spencer Fano at slot 85 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick99
Rnd3
Nyck Harbor
They barely believed it either: Nyck Harbor still on the board at the 99th pick. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick120
Rnd4
David Bailey
A top-tier edge rusher at a bargain, David Bailey in Round 4, Pick 20, plain and simple. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick133
Rnd4
Michael Taaffe
They robbed the room for Michael Taaffe here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick159
Rnd5
Whit Weeks
The board fumbled Whit Weeks all the way to the Round 5 slot, and they scooped it up. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick181
Rnd5
Trevor Goosby
Steal is underselling it; Trevor Goosby at No. 181 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
Pick202
Rnd6
Ja'Kobi Lane
Somehow Ja'Kobi Lane was still sitting there in pick No. 202, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. It fills a real need, too.
Pick214
Rnd6
Dani Dennis-Sutton
A edge rusher of that caliber at the 214th overall pick is the definition of value, full stop. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick229
Rnd7
Jonah Coleman
You do not let a running back like Jonah Coleman reach Round 7, Pick 14 and blink. They did not. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick235
Rnd7
Sonny Styles
Sonny Styles in slot 235 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
