Draft Grade — Texans
Overall B-
ValueC+ NeedB+ TradesC FutureB+
No fireworks, just a tidy B- for the Texans.

If confidence were a draft strategy, the Texans would have aced it. Jack Westover at the 250th pick is 71 spots clear of where he belonged. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.

Landing Bailey that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

They were the ones paying the moving tax this weekend. The hoard sets up next April more than it helps this September.

Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.

Pick Analysis
Pick23 Rnd1 Byron Murphy II
In the Round 1 slot they get a pocket-collapsing interior rusher. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick87 Rnd3 Jalen McMillan
Jalen McMillan at pick No. 87 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick124 Rnd4 Johnny Wilson
Johnny Wilson in the 124th pick is fair value, right on his grade. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick128 Rnd4 Javon Foster
A tidy little value on Javon Foster in No. 128, a step better than break-even. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick173 Rnd5 Jaylan Ford
A big swing on Jaylan Ford at slot 173, well ahead of any board in the building. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick236 Rnd7 Emani Bailey
Emani Bailey at Round 7, Pick 16 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick242 Rnd7 Ryan Watts
Ryan Watts in the 242nd pick is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick245 Rnd7 Sam Hartman
A real head-scratcher, Sam Hartman in the 245th overall pick is miles ahead of his ranking. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick250 Rnd7 Jack Westover
They reached into another round for Jack Westover, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
