MPLS1989 DRAFTING FOR THEVikings
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Vikings

The Vikings cashed the board's mistake on Lew: B-. You build a draft on nights like this. Connor Lew had no business being available in Round 3, Pick 33, and the Vikings did the only sane thing and turned in the card.
They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it. Safety is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick Analysis
Pick18
Rnd1
Arvell Reese
In the Round 1 slot they get the heartbeat of the defense at a price that makes it sweeter.
Pick49
Rnd2
Chris Johnson
No edge and no loss on Chris Johnson in No. 49; it is a wash and a sensible one. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick82
Rnd3
A.J. Haulcy
A safety of that caliber at Round 3, Pick 18 is the definition of value, full stop. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick97
Rnd3
Connor Lew
A top-tier offensive lineman at a bargain, Connor Lew in slot 97, plain and simple. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick161
Rnd5
Jaydn Ott
By-the-book stuff, Jaydn Ott at the 161st pick squarely in line with his ranking. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick194
Rnd6
Miles Kitselman
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Miles Kitselman at pick 194. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick234
Rnd7
Ethan O'Connor
Fair-plus on Ethan O'Connor, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Pick240
Rnd7
Jordan Hall
Jordan Hall at pick No. 240 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
