Draft Grade — Giants
Overall D
ValueB- NeedB+ TradesF FutureA
The phones sank the Giants this weekend: D.

The trade table was where it all came apart. The Giants shipped out far more than they hauled back, and no amount of spin dresses up the bill.

They will regret leaving interior defensive lineman for another day if the season turns on it. They are betting Williams proves the room right and everyone else wrong. The Justin Fields pickup adds a known quantity to a class of unknowns.

Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

The verdict is not kind, and fairly so; this class has a hill to climb.

Pick Analysis
Pick8 Rnd1 Rome Odunze
A straight-up fair deal on Rome Odunze at the Round 1 slot, value and slot in agreement. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick44 Rnd2 Chop Robinson
Chop Robinson in No. 44 lands just on the right side of the ledger. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick47 Rnd2 Patrick Paul
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Patrick Paul. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick69 Rnd3 Caelen Carson
Caelen Carson at pick No. 69 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick105 Rnd4 Cooper Beebe
They paid sticker price for Cooper Beebe in the 105th pick, and that is fine. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick142 Rnd5 Theo Johnson
By-the-book stuff, Theo Johnson at slot 142 squarely in line with his ranking. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick183 Rnd6 Miyan Williams
They went early on Miyan Williams in Round 6, Pick 8, and the value did not follow. It fills a real need, too.
