The Jaguars did the meat-and-potatoes work well: B-.

You can fall in love with a player. You are not supposed to marry him in the wrong round. The Jaguars did exactly that with DeMonte Capehart in pick 237. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B-.

Landing Wright that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. For all the activity, linebacker went untouched, which is hard to explain.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the linebacker spot they never got to.

In pick 17 they get a building block for the line at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick48 Rnd2 Sedrick Van Pran
Sedrick Van Pran in Round 2, Pick 16 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick79 Rnd3 Christian Mahogany
Christian Mahogany at the Round 3 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick96 Rnd3 Brenden Rice
Brenden Rice at the 96th overall pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick114 Rnd4 Darius Robinson
The board had cheaper options than Darius Robinson at No. 114, and it noticed. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick116 Rnd4 James Williams
James Williams at the 116th pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick155 Rnd5 Cam Hart
Nice patience on Cam Hart, who had no business lasting to slot 155. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.

J. Michael Sturdivant at pick 195 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.

Somehow Jaylen Wright was still sitting there in Round 6, Pick 36, and they pounced on premier running back value. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.

DeMonte Capehart at pick No. 237 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
