Draft Grade — Patriots
Overall B
ValueB NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
The Patriots kept it disciplined and banked a B.

The Patriots treated their own grade as gospel and everyone else's as noise, spending the Round 6 slot on Keaten Wade a full 80 spots early. More right than wrong, and a B to match.

However the rest shakes out, Lee III at that price is a win they earned. The interior defensive lineman hole is the one line item this class does not answer.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but interior defensive lineman.

Pick Analysis
Pick30 Rnd1 Jordyn Tyson
In slot 30 they get a home-run threat at receiver, outstanding value to boot. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick62 Rnd2 Caleb Tiernan
They paid sticker price for Caleb Tiernan in pick 62, and that is fine. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick94 Rnd3 Will Lee III
They will replay Will Lee III at the 94th overall pick for years; that is how good the value is. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick125 Rnd4 Jalon Kilgore
Nice patience on Jalon Kilgore, who had no business lasting to the Round 4 slot. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick130 Rnd4 Michael Trigg
A tidy bit of business in pick No. 130, where Michael Trigg graded well above the range. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick168 Rnd5 DJ Campbell
A tidy little value on DJ Campbell in the 168th pick, a step better than break-even. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick189 Rnd6 Red Murdock
Red Murdock in the 189th overall pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick200 Rnd6 Keaten Wade
Keaten Wade in slot 200 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick207 Rnd6 De'Zhaun Stribling
No drama and no debate, De'Zhaun Stribling went about where he belonged in the Round 6 slot. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick209 Rnd6 Korey Foreman
Korey Foreman at No. 209 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick246 Rnd7 Rueben Owens II
Rueben Owens II in the 246th pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
