Draft Grade — Packers
Overall B
ValueB NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
Best value of the weekend goes to the Packers for Banks: B.

Call it larceny. Caleb Banks sat on the board until the 52nd overall pick, and the Packers did not need to be asked twice. No fireworks, but a solid B.

If Luckie pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. A whole weekend of picks and wide receiver is somehow still a want. Edge rusher is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the wide receiver spot they never got to.

Pick Analysis
Pick52 Rnd2 Caleb Banks
Somehow Caleb Banks was still sitting there in the 52nd overall pick, and they pounced on premier edge rusher value. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick84 Rnd3 Malik Muhammad
Malik Muhammad at pick No. 84 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick120 Rnd4 Logan Jones
Logan Jones at No. 120 is a conviction pick that outran the value. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick158 Rnd5 DJ Campbell
A straight-up fair deal on DJ Campbell at pick 158, value and slot in agreement. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick199 Rnd6 Lawson Luckie
They paid up for Lawson Luckie at slot 199 when waiting would have done the job. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick236 Rnd7 Ricardo Hallman
Ricardo Hallman at the Round 7 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick254 Rnd7 Rueben Owens II
Nice patience on Rueben Owens II, who had no business lasting to the 254th pick. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick257 Rnd7 Haynes King
You do not let a quarterback like Haynes King reach Round 7, Pick 41 and blink. They did not. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
