Draft Grade — Jaguars
Overall B-
ValueC+ NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
No fireworks, just a tidy B- for the Jaguars.

Boards are made to be trusted, and the Jaguars shredded theirs for Jaleel Johnson. He came off 73 spots early, and the room will hear about it.

The wide receiver hole is the one line item this class does not answer. That McDonald pick is the receipt they will wave around later.

They left with offensive lineman solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.

Pick Analysis
Pick20 Rnd1 Trey'Dez Green
In the 20th pick they get a red-zone target to build around. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick56 Rnd2 Jelani McDonald
Jelani McDonald at Round 2, Pick 24 is money in the bank, a safety taken below his worth. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick87 Rnd3 Iapani Laloulu
They liked Iapani Laloulu enough to skip the value, taking him in No. 87. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick124 Rnd4 J'Koby Williams
They paid a round early for J'Koby Williams in the 124th overall pick, more than the board wanted. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick159 Rnd5 Jermaine Mathews Jr.
No edge and no loss on Jermaine Mathews Jr. in pick No. 159; it is a wash and a sensible one. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick172 Rnd5 LJ McCray
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for LJ McCray. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick179 Rnd5 Jaleel Johnson
Jaleel Johnson at the Round 5 slot is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
Pick217 Rnd6 Stephiylan Green
This one needs a full-page explanation: Stephiylan Green in pick No. 217, miles early. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick244 Rnd7 D'Antre Robinson
D'Antre Robinson at Round 7, Pick 24 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
