Willard365 DRAFTING FOR THEJaguars

Draft Grade — Jaguars
Overall

TradesB-
FutureB-
A respectable, level-headed haul for the Jaguars: B-. Some picks age like wine; Myles Cole at pick No. 141 will need to, sitting 81 spots clear of his grade. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.
The Polk steal is the beam this whole class leans on. They punted on offensive lineman, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick Analysis
Pick17
Rnd1
Cooper DeJean
In Round 1, Pick 17 they get an island corner at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick48
Rnd2
Tyler Nubin
Tyler Nubin at slot 48 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It fills a real need, too.
Pick96
Rnd3
Ja'Lynn Polk
You do not let a wide receiver like Ja'Lynn Polk reach the 96th overall pick and blink. They did not. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick115
Rnd4
Trey Benson
Trey Benson at the 115th pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. The roster fit checks out.
Pick117
Rnd4
Spencer Rattler
Spencer Rattler in the Round 4 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick141
Rnd5
Myles Cole
They talked themselves into Myles Cole at No. 141, and the board did not agree. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick195
Rnd6
Steele Chambers
Fair-plus on Steele Chambers, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick234
Rnd7
J.J. Weaver
J.J. Weaver in pick No. 234 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
