Draft Grade — Jaguars
Overall B-
ValueD NeedB TradesA+ FutureC
Nobody dealt better than the Jaguars this weekend: B-.

There is reaching, and then there is Deshawn Pace at Round 7, Pick 14. The Jaguars jumped the board by 198 and dared it to prove them wrong. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.

The Bassa steal is the beam this whole class leans on. The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Pick Analysis
Pick1 Rnd1 Mason Graham
In slot 1 they get a load in the middle. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick24 Rnd1 Maxwell Hairston
In pick 24 they get a lockdown presence outside, a steep price for the projection. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick35 Rnd2 Emeka Egbuka
They let Emeka Egbuka come to them and pounced at pick No. 35. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick36 Rnd2 Dont'e Thornton Jr.
A real head-scratcher, Dont'e Thornton Jr. in No. 36 is miles ahead of his ranking. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick39 Rnd2 Tyler Warren
Tyler Warren at the Round 2 slot is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick70 Rnd3 Xavier Watts
A safety of that caliber at the 70th overall pick is the definition of value, full stop. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick88 Rnd3 Jordan Burch
Jordan Burch in slot 88 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick102 Rnd4 Omarr Norman-Lott
The board fumbled Omarr Norman-Lott all the way to the Round 4 slot, and they scooped it up. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick106 Rnd4 Donovan Jackson
Taking Donovan Jackson in the 106th pick is close to grand larceny; an offensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick119 Rnd4 Kobe King
A premium they did not need to pay, Kobe King a notch or two before his time. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick125 Rnd4 Ryan Fitzgerald
Ryan Fitzgerald at No. 125 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
Pick138 Rnd4 Alex Mastromanno
This one needs a full-page explanation: Alex Mastromanno in Round 4, Pick 37, miles early. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
Pick139 Rnd4 Trevor Etienne
They talked themselves into Trevor Etienne at the 139th overall pick, and the board did not agree. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick142 Rnd5 Cobee Bryant
Cobee Bryant at pick 142 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick143 Rnd5 Brandon Adams
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Brandon Adams well ahead of where he belonged. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick148 Rnd5 Brant Kuithe
Brant Kuithe at the Round 5 slot is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick168 Rnd5 Jeffrey Bassa
They robbed the room for Jeffrey Bassa here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick180 Rnd6 Jeremy Crawshaw
Jeremy Crawshaw in the 180th overall pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
Pick184 Rnd6 DJ Uiagalelei
They reached into another round for DJ Uiagalelei, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick189 Rnd6 Malik Verdon
Malik Verdon at the 189th pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick194 Rnd6 Caleb Ransaw
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Caleb Ransaw. It fills a real need, too.
Pick196 Rnd6 Marques Sigle
They reached a country mile for Marques Sigle at No. 196, and the board is aghast. The roster fit checks out.
Pick202 Rnd6 Craig Woodson
Craig Woodson at pick No. 202 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick203 Rnd6 C.J. Baskerville
They left a pile of value on the table to take C.J. Baskerville this early at pick 203. It fills a real need, too.
Pick204 Rnd6 Aydan White
Value said wait; Aydan White in slot 204 says they were not listening. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick216 Rnd6 Will Sheppard
A wild overpay on Will Sheppard in the 216th overall pick, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick217 Rnd6 Jackson Woodard
Jackson Woodard in the Round 6 slot is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick219 Rnd7 Isheem Young
Isheem Young at Round 7, Pick 1 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick222 Rnd7 Donovan McMillon
A big swing on Donovan McMillon at the 222nd pick, well ahead of any board in the building. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick223 Rnd7 R.J. Moten
They left a pile of value on the table to take R.J. Moten this early at No. 223. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick228 Rnd7 Trikweze Bridges
A real head-scratcher, Trikweze Bridges in Round 7, Pick 10 is miles ahead of his ranking. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick232 Rnd7 Deshawn Pace
Deshawn Pace in No. 232 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick241 Rnd7 Beaux Collins
Beaux Collins at pick 241 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick255 Rnd7 Tommy Akingbesote
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Tommy Akingbesote well ahead of where he belonged. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
